See celebrities on stage via London theatre
tickets
Many television celebrities over the years have turned their hand towards the
theatre, by performing on stage in a London West End show. So many celebrities have performed in a West End show at
some time during their career that some theatre directors have accused the West End of being celebrity obsessed.
Indeed, it sometimes seems hard for a show to stand out from its competition if it does not have a celebrity star
in a leading role. The West End is very big business and having a celebrity on hand is a great way for a show to
receive publicity and popular appeal.
London theatre tickets can be very hard to come by for some shows, with many productions selling out well ahead of
their opening night. While there are many reasons why a particular show becomes popular with the public, the
inclusion of a celebrity star is certainly one factor that can not be overlooked. The West End theatre district is
definitely being hit hard by the current economic times, however, before the recession attendance at musicals was
growing fast. Andrew Lloyd Webber is perhaps the most famous musical director of the moment, and he has been known
to cast a number of reality TV stars in leading roles for his productions.
There is controversy relating to the situation of West End celebrity dominance and dependence however, as many
professionally trained actors seem to be missing out on the big roles. It is not just reality TV stars appearing on
the stage however, as stars from East enders, Neighbours, and other soap operas are using the theatre as a
transition out of a television based career. Some of the well known names which have appeared on the London stage
include Sharon Osbourne, Jason Donovan, and Rowan Atkinson. One of the down sides to celebrity inclusion in London
shows is that popular theatre is certainly more popular than ever before, and tickets can often be hard to obtain.
A London theatre ticket can be very hard to come by for many of the most popular shows, and people certainly need
to book ahead to be ensured of a seat - and a chance to see their favourite TV star on stage.
